IdHIMA Advocacy Task Force: Medical Record Copy Fees

IdHIMA members –

Are you interested in the proposed regulations for limiting fees providers may charge for providing copies of medical records to 3rd party requests in Idaho? If you are, the IdHIMA board is looking for volunteers to participate on a short-term task force to develop a Position Statement from IdHIMA regarding Idaho Senate Bill 1346.

Idaho Senate Bill 1346 would strictly regulate the fees healthcare providers can charge for providing copies of medical records to a third party upon request. The bill was first introduced in 2022 and heard at the House Health and Welfare Committee. The Committee voted to hold the bill in committee. In anticipation of the Bill being reintroduced next session, there is work being done to prepare a compromise bill and for IdHIMA to share our professional opinion.

If you are interested in being part of this task force , please contact Karen Fleming, Advocacy Director, by emailing karen.fleming@saintalphonsus.orgno later than Nov. 5th. You will be invited to 1-2 working meetings in November to contribute to this important work.

If you are unable to participate in the task force, you may still contribute by sending your opinions/suggestions in writing via email for consideration during the meetings.

Please reply no later than November 5th.

Thank you,
